Fortunate was I to watch the repeat
telecast of the programme "Paataku pattabishekam", a
befitting honour to Padmabushan Smt P Susheela.
The programme was for about 40 minutes and madam Smt P Susheela
spoke about her musical journey, awards, memoirs etc.
Credit to the programme producer who could get clippings of very
rare songs in such a short notice.
Some higlights:
a) Prasad Studio inauguration with the first recording song of
Smt P Susheela.
b) Same padhyam in Chenchulakshmi and Baktha Prahaldha rendered
in different years with a decade difference under the baton of
Sri Rajeswara Rao.
c)Early song with Sri Ghantasaala garu and enacted by Helen (
Sundaraanga..)
d)Athaan enathaan both the versions tamil and Telugu dubbed. Paapamparihaaram.
e)Gaaliki kulamEdhi from Karna
f)Iraivaa un maaligaiyil (oli vilakku)
g) Award winning songs from Uyarndha manidhan, SavalE samAli &
Siri siri muvva
Photographs of Master Venu, Chakravarthi, Nagireddy, Chakrapani
and others were shown as and when Smt P Susheelareferred them
in her speech.
She recalled the calibre of Smt Savithri for whom she had rendered
innnumerable immortal songs.
