I had the great privilege of attending
the Birthday Celebrations of "Gaana Kokila" Dr. P Suseela
Amma's 75 Birthday celebrations at Silpakalavedika, Hyderabad
on 10th Nov from 6 PM onwards. This program was organised by MAA
TV.
The show started at 6:15 and ended at 11:00 in the night!!! I
had the great privilege to sit in the first row and watch the
concert along with Suseelamma!!
Many eminent and prominent people attended this function. Dr.
K Viswanath, A. Nageswara Rao, Chiranjeevi, Nagarjuna, Amala,
P.B. Sreenivas, S.P. Sailaja, L.R. Eeswari, Jamuna Rani, Sunitha,
Ranganath, Vasantha, Geetha Madhuri, Hemachandra, Sri Krishna,
Koti, Chakri, D. Ramanaidu, V.B. Rajendra Prasad were a few to
mention.
The show was hosted by Mano and Suma! The show started with the
dance performances by the students of Sampoorna Dance School and
then there was songs by the Students Little Musicians Academy
(LMA) run by Rama Chari . The whole show was run by these students
who performed dances on Suseelamma's songs and who sung her songs!
In the middle there was Audio-video that was played that showed
our Susheelamma's journey from the 1950's to 2007. All prominent
people were asked to talk and share their experiences with Suseelamma
and about the function.
Felicitation was done to Suseelamma by all the above mentioned
members on the stage. Actor Thanakela Bharani wrote a wonderful
poem on Suseelamma and read it out to everybody. P.B. Sreenivas
also wrote another short poem and read it out for us all!
I was very lucky to sit with Suseelamma's Grand daughter( she
is a 9 year old cuteeeeee and sweeeet girl).
The show was wonderful and all the young singers sung extremely
well. There was one thing missing in the show that was the absence
of Sri. S. P. Balasubrahmanyam. When P.B. Srinivas asked Suseelamma
about it, she answered that he was not feeling well. Sri. S.P.B
sent a short message wishing Amma on her 75th Birthday.
